Wish I had the time

I stopped by a local fly fishing shop today and I was talking to the owner. He was telling me that he runs two fly fishing trips a year to fish for Striped Bass.

One in May and the other in October. What he does is rents a house on Martha's Vineyard. The house sleeps six people. It cost somewhere around $600 dollars for the week, you get yourself there and provide your own meals and just fish till you drop.

Wish I had the time to do this. I think I am going to try to make the next trip in May.

Bob

Hi Bob,

If I had the time I would come over and give u a hand catching them stripers mate. I'd bring my Popleyes, surf Candies, etc and plenty of greenbacks for the evenings out!
600$ per week for 6 sounds a good deal to me. Martha's Vineyard, i have heard of it but can't quite place it, is it in New England/Washington Sate?

Do you catch false Albacore there as well?

Cheers
Shaun

Hey Bob-

Martha's Vineyard actually has a small airport, and you can get some decent fares from other small airports to get there. Don't know where you are on the East coast but might be worth looking into. Consider that elsewise you'll have all of that gas money, plus the ferry to the Vineyard. If you do decide to drive and ride the ferry, park in Wood's Hole and take the ferry without your car. Its very expensive to take your car, plus if you don't make your reservation now, chances are you won't have a chance at getting a ticket to bring a car on anyway. If you're walking on, you can get on pretty much whenever you want. In the end, I've found it cheaper and much easier to take the ferry over and rent a cheap compact car, especially if you can hook up with some of the other folks on the trip and share the car cost.

Have you done any striper fishing up here in Mass? We go quite often in season, either to the Cape or Plum Island. Great fishing when they are running.

Let me know if you have any other logistics questions on getting to the Vineyard or what not, its a trip I'm pretty familiar with!!!

Hey Hunter,

No I never did any striper fishing in Mass but someday I plan to do that trip. I just have to make the time. Thanks for the reply.
