| Started this trip by waking up at the ungodly hour of 6 am!! then got my COLD drinks ready and my sarnies etc, put em in a cool bag and got dad up at 7, then i set off at 20 to 8. got there at 17 minutes to 8...isnt it great living nearby? i was first there out of all the anglers that came and i didnt pay in, as it was a free day for me, with those two lunkers before having blue tags and started fishing at 8, as you cant fish before then lol.the mill lake close up ![]() ![]() ![]() dad stayed until about quarter past, and true to form, i caught my first fish about 2 minutes after he left lol! i didnt take a picture of this one as i released him quick, but he was about 3 pounds. then changed to an orange blob and caught another, which also released without a piccy, this time because the camera went low again!! went quiet until about 9 o clock when they all came on, and i caught these two beauties on a cats whisker! literally within 15 minutes of each other, both putting up a realy good scrap. of course to make the most of my free day, i took these two, one for grant, one for us. used some alternative angles to try and make the trout a bit more detailed, instead of it being silver and then black on the top like usual lol! ![]() ![]() ![]() after this is all went terribly quiet, until about 2 o clock, after my sarnies and drink was consumed, when i was talking to someone with my viva in the water, then i feel a pull on my arm and i think "argh!", strike, play a nice fish for about 5 minutes, then lose it. boo hoo. i lost a few more after that, which i was gutted about. Now my worst arch enemy, the wind started to pick up, as it did before, and ruined the day from then on. casting turned bad, as the backcast couldnt be achieved, as the line was being blown forward all the time, the water turned murky, so visibility was reduced, basically terrible conditions to be fly fishing in. ended up with dad turning up at about half 5, going home at about 6:15, after a slow but slightly productive 8 hours and 15 minutes of straight fly fishing! (with lures as well, so my arms were a tad achey by the end of it! )![]() another thing more than 8 hours in the sun does to you... sunburn that i can still feel today! i have that shape of the fishing forum polo shirt coloured onto me in white, the rest is like a cherry cola bottle!! i came back to my easter eggs, and melted one on my arm it was that bad! ![]() __________________ "Alright Jack, we all ready to fish?"
