Thumbs up Re: Blagdon thursday

Good luck Flyman. I never leave a Daiwl Bach out of my team of flie's when I fish Blagdon.

Whatever time of year, it never fails me. A Grenadier is a good bet too. I would also put a small Black tadpole with a gold head on the point early season.
Small flie's & a slow retrieve is the way to go.

Cool Re: Blagdon thursday

Hi flyman,

I fished Blagdon for over 10 years from Boat & Bank, pleasure and matches.

Early season always sees an influx of "Stockies" so go for flies that will be attractive to them. First Team of three would be orage blob on the top, diawl bach in the middle and a big heavy buzzer on the point.
(This takes care of stockies, buzzer feeders and daphnia feeders.)
Switch between floating and sinking/intermediate lines.

Team 2 would be fluffy black, white black or orange lure on point, buzzer in the middle and diawl bach on the top dropper. or swop the middle to the point.

If the water is really cold and the fishing is hard, go for a DI 7 or 8 any relly heavy sinking line, two or three Boobies .... Coral pink, White Cats Whisker and black and green tadpole style.

If fishing 2 boobies second fly should be 18 inches away from the point fly if 3 flies 2nd fly 18ins - 2 feet then 3rd fly 2 feet. Fish them slow or fast figure of 8 if fast figure of 8 flies will fish closer to the bottom. Pause every 5-6 feet of line retrieved so they "flutter" in the water.

If this fails.......go to the pub!!

Tight Lines.

Oh and I would fish either of the stockingpoints... Cheddar water/ Polish water quite deep or Green Lawn of Rainbow point.

If from a boat....the world is your oyster.... I love Butcombe shore and Bay behind the island 40-50 yards from the shore.

Have a great time...you lucky man.
