| My 1st Fly Fishing Lesson Hi all, Well after having another charter cancelled (all but 1 this year) I decided to have a go at Fly Fishing. On Thursday morning at 10:30 I had my first ever lesson, and at 10:45 my first ever cast of about 20 feet produced this "magnificent" Rainbow Trout of about 2lbs. I must admit I didn't weigh it and the weight is just a guess. The day in general was very enjoyable, but my casting will have to improve considerably, I found it difficult at first but as you would expect, it improved slightly as the day progressed. Much to my surprise at 4:30 with the last cast of the day I landed another 2 pounder similar to the first.  There were 6 other anglers fishing the lake but George my instructor and I were the only ones to catch, he had three to 10 lbs. All fish were returned. I thoroughly enjoyed the occasion and if I am accepted I might join the club of 30 anglers who fish this lake. I know that there is a vacancy but there is an A.N. Other waiting in the sidelines. I will just have to await the decision of the committee when they next meet. I have tried to upload a picture, maybe one of the mods. will assist if it doesn't appear. Perhaps Dan will add it to the "Prospectors" score??? You can't beat walking the bank on a nice spring day with just a 3oz fly rod & a waistcoat with a few boxes of flies in the pockets. Beats lugging loads of heavy coarse or sea gear for miles.
