Santhill for 1/2 day on Saturday

Good Afternoon Gentles All,

Just got permission for the 'Maggot-Drowner' and I to go for four - (that's 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 4) hours of glorious fly fishing at Santhill tomorrow - Saturday afternoon.

It has just reopened after the winter break and Stuart, the owner, tells me it's fishing really well.

We've a boat and an electric magimix engine booked.

You may have guessed already but we're a bit excited.


Sorry for all this fuss but I just had to tell someone.

The 1/2 day started well with the Father-in-Law (Bryan The Maggot Drowner), who has had 3 fly-fishing lessons from yours truly, confidently chosing the fly, casting out allowing it to settle and beginning the retrieve.

Then hooking straight into a nice fish, which was netted, landed and despatched.

When I redressed the balance by catching a nicer fish he only went and caught another even nicer one!!!!

I caught two in succession - ha ha beat that .......

You will see his bent rod in the picture - and his smile as he holds the 4lb beauty.

Seriously - I couldn't have been happier if I'd caught it myself.

Full bag by the end of the day and 24 hours later he's still smiling.
