3 fly set up

Hi guys. I'm looking for some advice on fishing small reservoirs. What is the best 3 fly set up at this time of year for a small reservoir. Its only full of brown trout and very hard to fish. Any help would be grateful.

I reckon I`d fish it as I would if boat fishing, A flashy or gold head point, Partridge and Orange or bibio middle and a Soldier Palmer or a Kate McLaren top dropper all size 14 or 16s. These are the ones I`d use, but only an example.
Hope this helps, and best of luck when you go. Peter.

Thanks for that m8. Its a nice wee reservoir nobody seems to bother you. plenty trout in it. mostly see people bait fishing on it. But I will give those flies a try. Kate MClaren on the top dropper, middle dropper silver Invicta and a black pennel on the point should do the job too, do you think?

Wow fly fishing sounds complicated. I mainly fish lakes and rivers 4 carp, barbel, chub ect but was thinking of getting a fly set up to take down the river to keep me busy when things are slow on the other rods. hopefully by catching chub and perch off the top. any pointers in getting started ??

I think Jeff`s right , as I always tie on something with a bit of flash for the point fly. 6 times out of 10 that`s the fly that takes for me. Peter

Hi Maddison, you can buy a fly rod kit on ebay for about £ 30+ postage. As it`s only to fill in time, I wouldn`t go too overboard on tackle. Peter

Thanks for the tips guys, I will go with that. A bloody butcher would do the same job then, something flashy?
