| A days fluff chucking - Kennick early May Well, a couple of days really. Apologies for taking so long to get my photo's off the phone, but I've had a lot on recently! End of April and early May I had a couple of trips out with a friend of mine to Kennick. Both sessions were from the boat and both suffered a stiff Northerly though out the days. Apparently Kennick has been fishing really well lately, but both of my trips there turn out to be quite hard work. As usual, it took me a while to get used to the casting again, but by the end of the second trip I'd got the rhythm back and even managed fishing with a dropper fly by the end. Tactics were sinking line and gold heads and all fish taken were close to the bottom. First time out Duncan took top rod with 5 rainbows and a good hard fighting brownie to my 4 rainbows but second time round I managed to beat the master with 6 rainbows to his 4. Not that I returned all his banter with interest or anything you understand! ![]() I'm growing quite fond of fly fishing. Playing a hard fighting fish on a fly rod, with all the lunges and jumping is great fun when you've endured a hard winter on the beaches like we have. And fishing from the boat makes everything so civilised! I might well be back quite soon. Duncan's Brownie One of my Rainbows Lessons Learnt *********** 1. Thou shalt not rock the boat. 2. A little roll cast before picking up. Tension in the line from the off! Hurrah! 3. Stop standing on yer damned fly line. __________________ Right then, checklist: Rods. Check. Reels. Check. | Re: A days fluff chucking - Kennick early May Great report rich. If your getting into fly fishing save up £70 and visit avington. When you get a 7lb rainbow stripping you to your backingand jumping clean out of the water it's heart stopping. tj |

| Nice report & photo's Baggie. Kennick looks a nice water. Never had a chance to fish there, but it's on my list of places to try. Very true about stepping on your line. It's one of the biggest causes of novices losing fish, along wth not holding the rod up when playing a fish. __________________ "The fish and I were both stunned and disbelieving to find ourselves connected by a line."
