| fly fishing lessons to all you fly fisher wannabees Hi there my name is Charley Davies I am quite new to the forum and have been quite impressed with all the help many people have given me over the past week or so. I would like to take this time just to give a very warm and big thank you to a very nice man that goes by the name of Dognobbler. As many of you will already know he is a very well established fly fisherman and has spent his entire life helping the sport grow, achieve his own personal goals and of course help as many youngsters and adults get into the sport. last weekend i was very kindly invited over to be given some well appreciated advice and help with my casting. I say help, what i actually mean is...... i had never picked up a fly rod in my life. I am originally a sea fisherman and have spent many of my younger years out at sea in Cyprus. since moving to England a few years ago I have been very keen to get into the sport of fly fishing. It seems to me, to be a very artistic discipline and a way of getting to know your surroundings and explore many areas of Britain. On arriving to meet Dognobbler I was greeted with a very warm welcome and felt instantly relaxed. we spent a few hours going through many aspects of the sport and i can now, technically, cast a fly rod at a reasonable distance of 30 ish feet. I feel completely happy and am really exited about purchasing my first fly rod and getting out onto the local common to practice the casting technique and perfecting my fluidity and position before heading down to the local river. I would finally like to say, a very big thank you to a lovely man and hope that at some point I may return and meet again to show my progress. (maybe teach him a lesson or two, or just a pub lunch). I am sure if anyone out there has any questions about the sport he would be more than happy to help. Many Many Thanks Charley Davies __________________ Not all that wonder are lost |
