Re: reels

i would get a fixed spool, because flounders come into shore very very close, about 5-8 metres. and fishing with a multiplier close in, will let out too much line and might give you a birds nest, thats if you have lots of coil memory.

Re: reels

Penn 525 great ratio on return plus small and strong

With the new penn 525 mag coming out the older Penn 525 mags will drop in price

If I can cast with them then anyone can

Re: reels

Hi ross,
for flatty bashing i too would use a fixed spool reel ,
it gives you the choice of spinning , float spinning ,and of course ledgering ,
depending on whats working best at the time ,
but richard is right if your going for a multi then the supermag wins hands down , me i have a problem casting short distances with a multi lol ,
hence fixed spool ,

cheers lee.

Re: reels

Would always use a fixed spool for floundering

525 could be a bit big for a flatty rod but gotta be the best multi about (not sure about the size of new 1?)

Re: reels

7HT would be great for flattie bashing, small light and you can pick dead cheep 2nd hand ones up now.
I am biast towards multies tho, after years 25 yrs of fixed spool use i wouldnt go back.
