Question portland harbour flatties

hi anyone,
i've spent a couple of years now looking to catch flatties of any description in portland harbour. i've caught bass,my normal obsession, gilthead and black bream and tonnes of wrasse but never a flattie! this is now reaching critical point as i think i am now somehow jinxed never catch one, does anyone have any pointers to this problem. i'm not after your secret marks but some cryptic clues would be very helpful!!

Re: portland harbour flatties

Went flattie fishing, in january. Sandsfoot castle, on the secluded beach under the Castle. We fished for a couple of hours, next to the boating pontoons. Ragworm seemed to be the best bait, on a two hook flapper rig.
The magic is to cast very close in about 15-20 yards, where the sand is being turned over by the waves.
Give it a go!!!

You could also try fishing right in where the new sailing academy starts. Once again keep it close.
