| Weston Shore Hi everyone, Firstly to introduce myself I'm a keen sea angler with 25 years experience of sea fishing, both match and specimen fishing. However, I need advice! Fishing Weston Shore (Rolling Mills to be precise) in a match in a couple of weeks on a flooding tide all the way until the end of the match. I fish Poole Harbour a lot for flounders but don't know as much about fishing in Southampton Water. I have a feeling that Weston Shore fishes better at range (90-100 yards) in the flood tide. Anyone know? As well as standard ragworm I'll also be bringing harbour rag. Does this work well at weston Shore? Using 2 hook rigs with 3 foot 20lb flourocarbon snoods, size 2 hooks and a few sequins/colourful beads on each snood. Thanks, Chris |

| First of all welcome to the forum Crusty! I dont fish that way at all but I know Shaun, Old Smoothound does from time to time and I bet will be around later. In the meantime you could take a look at this awesome rig of his I have used.Smoothy's Wishbone! It's a great rig for the flatties. | Re: Weston Shore Interesting rig. Do you use like a standard wishbone set up i.e. Snood above lead, hooks clipped into an impact shield below or as a snood in part of a running leger set up. I guess both variations could work. It raised an interesting question for me actually. I know of a guy who is a very successful flounder angler in the Poole area, wins most big matches and apparently the main secret of his success is simply using huge baits. He will take approx 200 rag to a match with him. Maybe a wishbone with two average size baits looks like one huge bait to a flounder. I can feel the need for some experiments! Chris |

| Re: Weston Shore It's just past Woolston and near a jetty. There is a slipway there as well. Somebody said that this is a hovercraft slipway but they may have been pulling my leg. It is the first part of Weston Shore as you come from the direction of the Itchen toll bridge. |

| Re: Weston Shore rag worm is the best bait in southampton water for anything, maddies work well if you can get them, and tipping off with squid often helps when rag isnt working on its own good luck in the comp and welcome to the forum, i look forward to your posts __________________ Bens The Name And Catchings The Game Anti the Anti's |
