Century Flattie Hi guys, I've been thinking about treating myself to a new rod and was wondering if anyone has experienced the CENTURY FLATTIE. I have read the report on the rod but I'm always a little warey of sales talk. Also what other estuary rods are worth a look at in the £130-£150 mark.

Re: Century Flattie Hey Pixybasher you really must be "awaywiththefaries" if you're going to spend that much on a Flattie rod! Have a look at the Shakespeare Odessa Flattie, casts 1 to 3oz for £31:99p, or the Bass version 2 to 4oz for £44:50p!I have the Odessa Bass and it's a brilliant rod - worth twice the price you pay for it ![]()

Re: Century Flattie That's OK mate anything to oblige I know that Shakespeare are not "fashionable" but their rods are bloody good value The only Shakey gear I would not touch with the proverbial barge pole are their reels I made the mistake of buying one of their boat reels a few years back and it was showing signs of serious corrosion after less than a years use!I have two of their Bass rods an uptider and a Beachcaster and love them to bits ![]()

Re: Century Flattie I have two of their Bass rods an uptider and a Beachcaster and love them to bits ![]() Would back this up. I hav owned an odessa flattie for a few years now. I look at buying the Conoflex Flattie Fanatic at the time, but glad i didnt. It is more suitable for things like deep water pollacking, as its quite heavy. A friend has the Centuary version and doent rate it as a flattie rod, say's its to heavy...... Hope this helps Doug

Re: Century Flattie I know that a lot of guys are happy to pay over the odds for the latest "designer" label but I prefer to get value for money and that is why I am happy to recommend Shakespeare rods.
