| Flounder eyes and mouths Don't know if anyone else has ever noticed this, i read in a magazine about how some flounder have mouths pointing to the left and some to the right It's not something i have ever noticed but looking back through my pics i had a pic of 2 flounder both with opposite mouths ![]() Picture isn't very clear with the background they are on but you can see the left fish has eyes going to the left and the right to the right Aparently some people think it's a way of telling whether the fish is male or female but it's not When the fish is born it's the same as any other fish swimming this way up ![]() Then as they grow they start to turn around on to their sides and become flat, when they do this the eyes go around to one side which makes them look as they are and whether they go to the left or right is just chance Not really useful information but i found it interesting at least, maybe i've just got flounder on the brain though! __________________ New site! sea fishing devon |
