| Floating line My 9 year old grandson has just started fishing and enjoying it but we have a problem....his line floats. Is there any way to make it sink so it's not affected by the wind as it was last week? |

| Re: Floating line Is it when he is float fishing ?? If so a quick and easy way is to cast over the place you want to be and then dip the rod tip under the water and reel in to your chosen place. This sinks the line plus makes sure the you are in control of the float Hope this mate sense as have been on my feet since 3.30am fishing __________________ Richard|Sea Fishing |Carp Fishing| Spud Gun | Zander fishing | Fishing Reports | Hunting Reports |

| Re: Floating line now although you are float fishing how are you attaching your float is it being attach by using float rubbers bottom and top or are you attaching it waggler style just through an eye at the bottom if attaching it waggler style as richard has said a over cast and sinking the tip and then a quick retreive should sink the line but connecting it with rubbers at the top will allow the line to stay up on the surface i normally will only attch like this if i,m trotting down a river lakes waggler style .as even a small amount of line on the surface will pull your float out of position but you can get over this problem by apply washing up liquid to your line this actually makes your line sink faster by breaking the surface tension of the water just apply the washing up liquid direct on to your spool trust me it works tightlines kevin |

| Re: Floating line Maybe you could try attaching a sinker (light, maybe 1/4 ounce) near the end of the line, and have a bobber a couple inches up. May work. I have had some luck in the past with it. ![]() |

| Re: Floating line If the washing liquid doesn't work, you could try flourocarbon line, it doesnt float like nylon mono. Its a little costy, esp. for a little kids kit, maybe just a few feet like a shock leader. Good Luck...and let us know how much bigger fish he caught than G-pa. __________________ A bad day fishing is better than a good day working! | Re: Floating line Try rubbing it gently with soil,it should take all the grease and oil off the line.just keep a bit in your hand and when you reel in hold the line.If that doe'snt work try fullers earth,if you can get it.it's the d's b's for sinking line, any tackle shop should sell it,or someting like it.Ask for a sinkant. __________________ 2 trips this year 0 blanks,7 whiting,1 flounder |
