| particles baits now i posted up hook baits and covered aspects of using boilies as bait . however there are more out then and boilies are not the be all or end all . so today i,m going to cover particles , now a while back particle bait were doing the business and catching a load of big fish but they seem to have lost there popularity now ,this might be down to the fact that quality readt made high protien baits are more wide spread and it also might be down to fisheries banning particles do to anglers not preparing them properly. i also think that particle were a poor food sourse fopr carp any way . now i still use particles but not to the exstent i did and again like boilies thereare many and some seem to do better than others . so i,m going to list a few that i have used over the years . SWEETCORN :no doubt that every one on here as used this from one time to another and its ability of putting most species on the bank is well documented ,but i still will use this in my carping especially if i,m stalking carp i think its important that when using this you do not use to many of theseas after a few weeks into a season carp and tench both get very wise to them . MAIZE : again i love this particle and its not that much different to sweetcorn however preperation is needed for this now i personaly feel this should be soaked for 3 to 4 days and then cooked for about 30/45minutes and then this does become a very good bait to use it takes on flavours very well and while sat in the bucket it get better while it ferments . normally angler have few of these in there carpet particle feed but very few will use them on the hook. it really is underated . MAPLES : now these are far my favourite particle bait of all time and i have caught some very good fish on them . again like maize it take on flavours and sweeteners very well . maples are easy to prepare just soak them over night and them for 15 minutes. maples are at there very best after 2 to 3 days when they start fermenting and re-leasing a think white slime . very underated and on the right water nothing does as well. TIGER NUTS : now i,m not a great lover of tigers but have used them and caught some nice carp on them but tigers again have to be prepared right . also more importantly fished right and this is where the problem lied with tigers and is probably why it got banned on most waters in my opinion . i think its best fished by only using 3 or 4 at the most but cause they catch from the off . anglers started to introduce them by the half and full kilo and the carp stopped eaten them but they also dstopped eating every thing else as well totally overated in my book . PEANUTS : probably the first particle i ever came across when i started carp fishing for carp all them years ago . i used to use these inconjuntion with a big bed of hemp when i first started to carp fish and did not know really alot about them ,but again like all particles they had to been prepped right they could cause problem and again this is why they were banned and i still to this day do not know any more about peanutsd than i did back then . CHICK PEAS : now i used to like these for two reasons 1 they like other would take on a bit of flavour 2 very good for dying various colours and it was great i could use a flavoured chick pea and when i felt it was not producing i could easerly dye it a different colour and the run would pick up again . worth a try out now theses are the main baits i used as hook baits but the main use of particles were in it was easy to bulk feed and lay a big carpet of bait for your session with out breaking the bank but you could also get the carp pre occupied on them . but below is some of the mass baiting particles i,ve used for spodding a carpet of feed out HEMP GROATS WHEAT BARLEY PARTI BLEND HAITH,S RED BAND again these are a guide to what is out there and most of what i have listed as hook bait or as carpet feed are the most commonly used but there are other more exotic partivcles outr there if you want ot try them but remember to prep your particles properly and also make sure they are able to be used on the water you are fishing . tightlines baitmaster ![]() |

| Re: particles baits what exactally are you ferering to when you say "hemp". Here in the U.S. it either referes to a type of rope/fiber (made from the cannibis plant) or the flowering part which we just call reefer! (that would be an expensive bait and I think it would probably catch more fisherman than fish) "Hey what did ya catch?...A buzz?...LOL ....Sorry joke may have been in bad taste but I couldn't resist. I apologize. :) |
