fox swingers hi guys does anyone use these swingers? i recently brought a load of gear and having not used the bite alarms ect before am a bit in the dark on where to set the swingers i fished a lake on monday had bites saw the rod twitching! but the alarm never made a sound... bait runners were as free as they possibly could be so that wasnt the issue and im blaming the swingers until i know better... any tips or hints would be greatly appreciated as im fishing another venue tomorrow and would like to hear the alarms beeping rather than watching for bites on the rod tip! __________________ fishing for fish is not as simple as you may think!

Re: fox swingers Hi, I haven't used the swingers but I think you attach the plastic hole end to the bottom of the alarm facing the reel and clip the other end to the line just before the reel (if you see what I mean). You then have to adjust the weight so that it lowers the line enough that it will pull through on a bite but will not allow any movement caused by wind/weather. I think you will have to play around with the tension weight a bit to get it right. I hope this was a help and good luck!

Re: fox swingers ok firstly here is a pic how a swinger set up looks like if fishing your lines bow string tight i personal try not to fish like this unless i feel its what is needed to say like fishing tight to snags and then i,m fishing locked up so it can not run into the snag . ![]() ok now you say you saw your rod tips twitching this could have been your bite and you should have struck, just cause your bite alarm does not sound does not mean that it has not pick up your bait also your bait runner does not have to be churning . now here is a little test you can do for your self set your rod up in your back garden on a bank stick with the alarm and swinger on it drop the lead to the right or left of the rod and gently pick up the lead and gently pull it away from the rod tip by doing this you will see how far the rod tip will move before your alarm goes off or your swinger moves you will be surprised now set your rod up again on a running lead set up and do the same test and see how much it moves now again you will be surprised . if you perform both tests correctly the second set up will give you a much quicker registration of a pick up and it will not matter which way it moves either . over the years i have caught many carp by striking some gentle rod taps that have not even registered on the alarm . this is mainly will happen in colder conditions or on heavily pressured waters and there are lots of little changes you can make to give you the best chances of a positive pick up like changing the length of your hooklink but that will have to be answered in another post . i hope this will help you with your dilema tightlines baitmaster ![]()

Re: fox swingers ok yes it was a fishery (small puddle heavily stocked with carp) rather than a carp lake full of 30lb'ers! so maybe it was just small fish snatching or even line bites? although the rod did bend quite a bit with these twitches! i fished again today with them and caught bugger all..(carp wise) but there was 8 or 9 of us fishing this lake and nobody caught a fish so i cant blame it on anything i was doing wrong! the water had cleared?... so the baliff told me he said it has been muddy and murky up until today and that might be affecting it i did however manage a decent sized roach looking back i should of weighed him but i couldnt get my hand around the fish im guessing he was a good 2lb very deep bellyed too!.. so if my alarms will register a roach attack im sure they will register the carp runs and im worrying to much over nothing __________________ fishing for fish is not as simple as you may think!
