Capturing Small Live Bait Fresh/Salt

Take a clear 2Ltr. plastic pop/soda bottle, cut the top third of the bottle off. Take the top and place it narrow end first into the 2 thirds of the bottle, staple the two halves together. ( It's like a crab trap but plastic.) Fill with the areas water ( fresh/salt ) and a little bait, secure a line and marker to it all and lower into a selected spot - leave for a time then recover. FRESH BAIT. If you're still not sure E-Mail me and i'll send a diagram.

See z ya.

Re: Capturing Small Live Bait Fresh/Salt

Even better is to repalce the bottom also with another reversed top.
Attach at least one of the reversed tops so it can be removed.(small bolts, clips ect.)
Bait with bread or small carp bollie.
Also adding or leaving one or two live bait fish inside the trap attracts many more to find their way in.
I very seldom buy bait. Keep live bait fish in the basement year arround.

Good Luck

In part a spelling mistake on my part. Should have read "boilie".
A small carp bait that is made from a dough ball which is boiled then dried out.

Best Wishes

Re: Capturing Small Live Bait Fresh/Salt

I made one this winter from 2 gallon plastic jugs. sacrificed one for the cone to put in the bottom of the other, w/the intent of puoring the caught bait out.
Havent tried it yet.

Re: Capturing Small Live Bait Fresh/Salt

if catching minnows always face the open end of the trap downstream. also some red wool or bread works a treat.

Re: Capturing Small Live Bait Fresh/Salt

This has worked for me so well for many years. Usually I cut the top screw cap off so bigger baitfish can get into it (as most baitfish in thailand cant fit through that little hole.
