| Re: first fishing tackle - honst opinions please Hi and Welcome to the forum ![]() The gear depends on what you're fishing for. That kit is mainly used for carp and pike. Most of it should be ok, but the quality probaly isn't that great, and you may need to upgrade after a couple of years __________________ Dan `·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸ Big or small, look after them all! ¸.·´¯`·.¸ ><((((º> |

| Re: first fishing tackle - honst opinions please Well first welcome to the fishing forum Looks ok but does not say what make the rods are IF you are just starting out you might not need all this gear in one go as although Im not a carp man all you need is 2 x carp rods 2x bait runners reels 1x landing net 1 x carp mat 2 x alarms plus one pod and then end tackle Agros does not sell rubbish so Im sure it will last a year or two Might be an Idea to look at the carp mags and see if any carp shops are doing any deals Dan on the forum plus the other carp boys will chip in __________________ Richard|Sea Fishing |Carp Fishing| Spud Gun | Zander fishing | Fishing Reports | Hunting Reports |

| Re: first fishing tackle - honst opinions please Thanks for the quick reply and welcome ... With regards to what i'm fishing for.... in my opinion this early in the game, any fish is a bonus regardless of species or weight... I was thinking of giving my main attention to the carping world both on ledger and float but if people can carry on with the feedback i'll be most gratful If it helps i was planning to fish at ardleigh reservoir ( just in case people know it...?) |

| Re: first fishing tackle - honst opinions please all i would say is that the bivvy, sunglasses, trolley and other bits and small pieces might be bit too much too start a good carp rod and baitrunner+terminal gear, bank sticks (if the tackle shop dont help here go to another!!) plus also a float rod that will take commercial waters + accessories(then you also have moreoptions I:e rivers etc) and you will have as much fun, equalling more options and £50-100 in pocket as dan said that is seriosly carp(+tench, pike but mostly carp) so keep options open in my 1/2 drunken opinion dave __________________ 24 beers in a case and 24 hours in a day , Game on www.exmouthsaa.co.uk I have the body of a God, Pity its Buddha :-0 |

| Hi Magik and welcome to the forum, from across the pond. I have to agree, start small, a rod w/reel and some tackle. Hooks and weights and bait to start. I still stand in front of racks and racks of lures and am not sure what to buy.(Lures=It has to catch the angler 1st) That set up looks great but $550 is a LOT of scratch to start off with. Maybe a good idea, if youve got buddies who fish, would be to borrow a couple diff outfits to see how they handle. Or better yet con. them into taking you out to try'em. good luck and have fun! __________________ A bad day fishing is better than a good day working! | Re: first fishing tackle - honst opinions please Myself I'd go for the Browning Syntech Access Feeder Rod 12ft. coupled with the Daiwa SNP3550 Coarse Reel. If I was going to get tackle from there total cost of £70 then down to the tackle shop a bulk spool of 6lb line, a few floats/ feeders, appropiate weights and some size 16hooks, and 3-4lb hooklength will cover you for most eventualities and costing a max of £100 a third of the price and much less to carry. If in doubt just ask your tackle shop owner who will very likely be happy to help *Word of warning, tackle shop owners get commission on all tackle they sell so they will try and get you to buy everything from them* |
