Re: Lures Fishing basics - my way I preferr\ a No.1 Floating RAPALA for small mouth bass. seems to work great! Just reel in with a real jerky and stop motion and WHAMO a fish! It simulates a disoriented baitfish.

That's one of the top lures & tactics over here for saltwater Bass. Mind you some of the new Japanese lures such as the Maria chase & yo zuri are just as good. __________________ "The fish and I were both stunned and disbelieving to find ourselves connected by a line." William Humphrey "

Re: Lures Fishing basics - my way Here's a quick question for all you lure fisherman out there. Up till recently I've only used a Rapala knot in my main line tied to the towing eye of the lure, but some of the plugs I've bought recently have a split ring attached to the towing eye of the plug. On these lures I've used a small swivel, and a breakaway spin link clip tied to my main line via a 3 turn grinner. Of course, when using the spin link clip, it's a lot quicker to change lures, but I'm a bit concerned that the clip and the swivel is affecting the action of the lure. Conversely, if I didn’t use a swivel, wouldn't line twist become a problem and I also run the risk of my knot pulling through the split ring? How do you guys attach your lure to the main line? Do you use a swivel and a clip and if so does if affect the action of the lure? Do you tie directly onto the main line, and if so do you get a problem with line twist? If we're to tie the lure directly on, why are these lures supplied with a split ring in the first place? What are next weeks lottery numbers? ![]() Just for your info. This is the Rapala knot. And this is the spin link clip. Rich.

very good advice, i also fish this way but alter my distances on casting, starting with shorter casts leading to the longer casts. This mehod is good for covering a wide area and fish finding. ![]() i use a small swivvel and a small clip attached to a wire trace thats attached to the main line, i have never foound this a problem. Its also possible to use the swivvel between the main line and the wire trace. Try using different sized clips and testing the lure visually in the water. A ![]()

Re: Lures Fishing basics - my way Spinning for Perch Perch are very visual predators, so your spinner needs to stand out. I prefer red or orange lures, this color seems to work best for me. A good size spinner for perch would be ¾ oz which might look large but you will be surprised at the size of the spinner these fish will take. A ¾ oz spinner lure will give you a further cast and create a good amount of vibrations through the water. Barapoon spinners are ideal for bank fishing with the best pattern having a red body and a silver blade. The silver is very visible and the red is what has been said to attract perch. I particularly like the ABU Reflex with its full weighted body and feathered treble hook. Perch love to hang around water outlets and submerged trees so cast your spinner past the feature and retrieving it so that the spinner passes just next to it in order to bring on instant takes. If not then I cast at different angles and retrieve at different depths to cover the whole swim. Anyway I hope this info has been helpful Fresh Water Lures

Re: Lures Fishing basics - my way hi, firstly, i know it sounds obvious but make sure you have a wire trace fitted as a pike will defo turn up at some point!! lure wise, try small mepps type spinners or small rubber shads, shakespear big s plugs have worked well, accounting for a few nice chub!! regards rod and reel go for an ultra lite set up as you will find it difficult to cast smaller lures with a standardset up. hope ive been of some help tight lines
