Re: Cheap baits

hi, ive just been down to my local hardware/garden store and spent £3!
for this sum i got 1.5kg of high oil 6mm pelletts, 1kg of large high oil pelletts , 1/2 kg of strawberrry betaine pellets and 1kg of hemp!
so 4kg of decent bait for £3.

i have been going there for years and there selection is brilliant they also stock groundbait by the kg , aswell as loads of different pelletts and tiger nuts hemp tares etc.

if anyone wants more details of the store let me know , its in norwich .

cheers
jambo

Re: Cheap baits

COSHIDA cat food is a killer! nice hookable lumps in gravy
but i think you can only get it from LIDLS (you know the cheepy supermarket)
you can get a big tin for pence so heavy baiting is fine!

Re: Cheap baits

just reading the article on the "cheap" baits and one thing caught my eye! whilst pellets are a cheap alternative from petshops anglers should be aware of some fishery rules where trout pellets are not allowed because of their high oil content, apparently high oil content rots carps guts. Most commercial fisheries now sell their own brand of carp friendly pellets in varying sizes and although slightly dearer they still have the same catch rate. I buy on average a 2 kilo bag of micro feed pellets & a 1 kilo bag of expanders which lasts me approximatley 8 fishing trips in a month total cost £8 plus the occassional tin of corn and meat
