Fruit baits

Has anyone ever used fruit baits before?

I always though hair rigging a chunk of apple would be a great bait, they take fruit flavoured boilies, pastes, pellets, meat etc...

What do you think would work well, and have you had any luck on fruits?

I know currants work well for roach, but would you call that a fruit?

Look forward to hearing some comments

Re: Fruit baits

Well I'm going carp fishing this sunday or monday it'll be my first one and ill have some luncheon meat and whatever i buy on saturday. I will try and bring along an apple or something and let you know how it goes. I know grapes don't work by reading anglers mail this week. But anyway while we are here does anyone know how to have 2 hooks on 1 rig for carp fishing?

Re: Fruit baits

Why would you want 2 hooks on 1 rig? If you get a double hook up with carp, you'll be in trouble!

Re: Fruit baits

Dan,

As you know I am no course fisherman but whilst in my local tackle store the other week I noticed this guy talking about fruit baits etc. This also included additives, one of which was pineapple!! It smelt so strong, I was left wondering whether it worked or not.

Kiwi.

Re: Fruit baits

I know that I certainly wouldn't Steve, I doubt many people would!!

Good point Kiwi. Pineapple is a great flavouring on boilies, a pineapple chunk may very well work.
