Rudd Or Bream Tips

Hi,

I do Roach and Perch fishing but I'd like to try a few more things - In my local resoviar Squabmoor there are some Rudd and Bream - Anybody got any tips on tackle or fishing for these two fish as they would be well used down here :)

Hi Steve.

Rudd tend to feed in the upper layers of the water, a small piece of bread on the surface will catch them. Maggots, worm and single grains of corn good bait for them too. I've had them to 1.5lb+ on dog biscuits. A lot of people use 10ml boilies these days too.

For tackle, fish light, float rod, float set half way in the water, 16 hook.

Bream tend to sit on the bottom and are shoal fish (like rudd). When you get into 1 bream, you often get a few more.

Most big bream these days are caught on boilies (15mil) but I tend to use corn, or the pop-up corn fished about an inch off the bottom. Worm and corn on the hook is a good bait, and them fished singularly will work too.

Leger seems the best option, size 12 hook.

Thanx but 2 qeustions - what actually is boillies and if i throw some bread, worm and maggot into the swim and put a maggot on the hook will i get a rudd?

Boilies are basically a boiled paste, mainly used for carp. Take a look here at how to make them Making your own boilies

You probaly will get the odd rudd, doing that, but you'll attract a lot of other fish too, but you waste your bait really.

I personally would buy some groundbait, and chuck that in too attract the rudd
