If you go to the chemist and ask for Formaldihyde, .(if you know a local farmer who mite let you have some)
this is diluted to 5/1 with water.
I`m a mole catcher and have been getting my worms like this for the past 16 years, and this is a excelent way to get worms to the surfice
When they have come to the surface , just give them a quick wash in water.
Formaldihyde is recomended by DEFRA to obtain worms from the ground for moles, so I`m pretty sure it will be ok for fishing.

Soapy water is ok on some occasions......... but formaldihyde is better it works regardless of weather conditions,....just be prepaired for the onslought of worms,....and I mean every single worm from 2mm long to 150 mm long
