In-line safety lead

Hi guys I have just come back from the tackle shop and I have brought a inline safety lead by accident. I was wanting a standard inline lead!!!! How do I use this one as it seems that this safety one will just fall off of the line??? The actual lead comes away from the plastic sleeve so I will end up with just the tube left???Help!!


Sorry if its a dumb question but im new to this freshwater stuff and am confused!!

what size inline mate ?- i got THOUSANDS HERE in 1, 1.5 and 2 and 3 ounce sizes - plain and coated in all manner of colours that i use for flattie fishing .. will bring some down to the meet if you have a use for them !

It is a 1.5oz lead, but i can use upto a 3oz on my carp rods, do they work well for the flatties steve?? I tried using my carp rod and a plain 3oz lead but the bloody lead kept getting stuck in the mud and i couldn`t get the sodding thing back out lol. Although my carp rod does double up well as a spinning rod

they are almost a flat pear shape mate.. will get a pic for you after tea

i used to sell em the the carp brigade and the barbel anglers loved them too
