Line breakage test

I bought a reel and it came with a full spool of line but doesnt say what lb it is?

How do i test it, i have scales so do i simply tie heavy stuff to the line and watch the scales at what weight it breaks????

cheers

Re: Line breakage test

i have in my box, a spool of 2lb line, cant remember the name, that i use for bitting in matches, its as thin as a spiders web, about 0.6 mm, but brilliant to use with a small waggler, terrific distance, no effort.

Re: Line breakage test

If its on a decent reel ,it is probably decent line , try picking up bags of sugar in a carrier bag or other shopping you know the weight of ..........until it snaps
