| Ground bait prep Ground baits explained I have been fishing for 11 years and have been taught by a qualified angler. One thing I was surprised about was the different ground baits and use. Its easy to get confused these days with the Varity of GB available to day so I hope this helps. I use Marsel Van Eynde ground baits there are others but I have always used these. There are many different types such as SUPER, SPECIAL, SECRET, KASTER, ACTIVE FEEDER, RIVER ACE AND BEET. These are the main one I use and can be purchased from any good tackle shop. I also use addictives to enhance the GB these are labelled clearly what fish they are intended for. The secret to GB is understanding what they are for. Take secret, this is a heavy mix where as special is a light mix and hand thrown will not go more than 6 yards before breaking up. Super cut is a sweet mix and is good for a base mix for middle range. Kaster is quite heavy but contains lumps that do not break up for a long time, it does this because the lumps do not absorb water quickly and take time releasing the flavour. When mixing GB its always good to mix two + addictives. The best I find to mix is super cut and special or secret and special. This is done because of their weights when mixed. When mixing active feeder or river ace nothing is needed to add to these mixes but you can if you want. Tools for the right mixing technique The amount of time I go fishing and see people mixing GB wrongly makes me laugh. To mix it right you will need GOOD RIDDLE (SIVE) a maggot riddle works well SPONGE, AEROSOLE SPRAY, GROUND BAIT MIXING BOWL or any thing with no corners. To prepare the grond baits the key is not to get it to wet. 1.pour the dry mixes into the bowl 2.Make sure the entire dry GB is well mixed in 3.Add the water in with a sponge dribbling it over the GB 4.You want the ground baits so they are no wet or dry areas, you want it damp 5.REMEMBER DOT GET IT TO WET 6.The secret is to get plenty of air into the GB 7.With the riddle you need to sive the entire GB through it and squash and lumps through. 8.You want to do this a couple of times and you will notice how fluffy the GB mix becomes If you are using a found bait feeder then at this stage its best to remove half of the mix. With the other half that’s in the bowl spray it with the aerosol spray working the mixture all the time. Its best to use the aerosol spay because with a sponge you can put to much water into the mix. You can do this with any make of GB just remember the golden rule ITS NOT THE GB IT’S THE WAYS ITS MIXED If you have any questions just ask tj __________________ Big or Small ill catch them all!!! |
