Method feeder The method feeder is used in many types of freshwater fishing from carp to tench to bream. They come in different sizes, the standard being 14- 16 grams. The prices seem to range from £1 - £5 depending on size and quality of it. The idea is to get balls of groundbait right next to your hookbait, every cast. It's becoming extremely popular around the country and lots of fish are falling to it. The method feeder is basically a lead weight with a frame around it, which you attatch groundbait too. ![]() ![]() Using it: They come in various different sizes and you may need a strong rod to cope with the weight. Firstly, you need to mix your groundbait up. ![]() Next, mould this around your method feeder. TIP: Don't make the ball in any random shape, try to make it streamline and don't add to much as you'll lose some of it halfway during the cast. ![]() Next, with your bait on the hook, wrap the hooklength around the ball of groundbait and add a bit more groundbait to it. The idea to this is that as a fish hits at the groundbait, bits of bait fall off, the fish eats anything that falls off, 1 of these will be your hookbait. The weight of the method feeder should hook the fish straight away. It's a great way of catching fish! Good luck with it __________________ Dan `·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸ Big or small, look after them all! ¸.·´¯`·.¸ ><((((º> Last edited by Norfolkboy; 02-22-2005 at 08:16 PM.

Re: Method feeder have you tried finely crumbed bread ? done in a blender, add some hemp / casters / corn / chopped worm. fish it using a cage feeder, a 2' hooklink, cast out leave for a min or two, then a quick flick of the rod empties the feeder and brings the hookbait into the feed deposited. __________________ good luck and tight lines chris lifes to short for animosity.

Re: Method feeder Good info Norfolk boy, but you said about the weight of the feeder hooking the fish. A lot of fuss is made about this now, with people saying that the feeder should be free running, because if the line snaps, and a fish hooks itself, as the fish pulls the line away, it's runs through the feeders leaving it behind, therefore, causing less stress on the fish, having to carry less weight around until the hook disintegrates, and not tethering the fish. Take a look at the URL address below ( I don't know how to hyperlink it on an iPod sorry) http://www.maggotdrowning.com/forum/..._basic-rig.gif If you look in the above link, the feeder is not tied. The bead stops damage to the swivel knot. Hope this helps, and I don't sound like I'm trying to put you on a guilt trip or anything.
