Re: Worms

Depends what you're after really, Ant. Lobworm is one of my favourites, great on the rivers for Perch, Bream, Carp, Tench etc...
Although, I prefer smaller red worms for bream.

Re: Worms

One method of using lobworms (nightcrawlers) that I didn't see mentioned which can be really devastating in the early summer is using 'floating lobworms' they can be made to float either by using a hyperdermic needle to put air into the head section; or putting a small piece of dull colured foam on the hook. They dangle with their moving tails hanging and look really enticing to the fish.
They are really good for Carp on the surface or popped up off the bottom, they are also great for surface fishing for Chub etc. I always use them when stalking Carp in the early summer and they can work well even on waters where Carp get a lot of normal floating baits thrown at them.

Re: Worms

a nice ruthles way of collecting lobs is put a few drops of washing up liquid (biodigradable obviously)
in a watering can of erm water! then pore on the grass, the little blighters come shooting up like
they just developed wings! (the detergent just irritates them and this will do no harm to your lawn)
collect up and rinse well in rain water, then into a tub of damp newspaper/ soil
as long as you give them a good clean before they go in the tub they last a good session no harm done!
lazy but works

Re: Worms

A worm topped on the hook with a piece of sweetcorn has provided some of my best results when river fishing. I find lobworms the best, and their size means you easily get three hookable pieces per worm.

I find several pieces of lobworm on the hook best for carp.
