Hair Rig?

Is it still effective to pre-tie hair rigs, using your reel line? or should i be using braid?

mono hook links still produce thousands of fish per yr and its cheap as chips

I rarely use the reel line straight through in any of my fishing.

Having said that I mainly use Middy Lo Viz hook links, usually the next breaking strain down from the reel line. So if the reel line is 12 I use 10 on the hook. This is simply so that I run less risk of leaving tens of yards of reel line in should I suffer a snag up.

Braid probably does offer some advantages on super heavy pressured waters but I suspect lots of mega-complex rigs are devised by the tackle firms to sell more bits than make a huge difference.
