how to put a self floating float on line

hi im confused i put my line through eye of float , B but were do i put elastic ban at top , an do i just shot it side bye side any help to this newbie would be great, also by mistake i bought a pole line which as you know is line with a float on can i use this by tieing line togher or am i wrong many thanks

Re: how to put a self floating float on line

Heres a couple of diagrams that should make it easier to understand Pikey.
The first diagram below is the standard method used in normal conditions. and most of the time it is what you would normally use on stillwaters.

See below if there is surface drag and you want to keep your float fairly still.
The undertow is usually moving in the opposite direction to the surface tow so the bulk shot has been moved to mid depth which acts as a counter balance to the surface tow and slows your float drift down.


NB. It doesn't matter if you use a straight waggler or a bodied waggler as the shotting patterns will be the same.

Below is a spit shot conversion chart for you which should help when adding shot.
