Bait bands or a pump

Hi I want to use pellets on the float or pole but what is the best way to hook them?

Mate 1 uses bait bands

Mate 2 uses a pump to make them soft and hook them

Also can you bait band a boilie?

Thanks

Re: Bait bands or a pump

hi mate this should give you an idea

bait bands

bait bands are usally used for pellets when fishing on commercial's. these pellets tend to be hard and are usaly 6mm + you cannot hook them so a band is needed. you can also tie a band onto a hair rig and fish the pellet this way. when banding pellets people tend to use methods such as the pellet waggler shallow and gerneral float work.

expanders

i think expander pellets are fantastic and i catch many fish on them both silvers and carp. i belive they are great for feeding in via a pole pot and all fish tend to like them. if you are targeting silvers with expanders try to keep the size at about 4mm if you are targeting carp on a commercial 6mm plus should be fine. expanders are best prepared via a pellet pump and you should leave them in an air tight bag with just enougth water covering them the night before you go fishing this ensures they all sink.

in summary both pellets have their uses banded pellets work well in conjunction with methods such as the pellet waggler shallow when you get the fish compeating however i belive soft expanders will catch a variety of fish of all species and sizes and will genraly bring more bites but dont boast the soung attraction when feeding as hard pellets do.

like i said i just depends on the fish you are targeting and the methods you are fishing.
