Removing micro dust shot. OK , I really like to dot my floats right down. The problem comes when I put a really small shot down the line , say a 10. Then I realise that it's too well dotted and now I've got to get it off. I do not own a pair of shot pincers (though will buy them if recommended). So what do people use ? Are those shot pliers able to get really small shot off. When I'm pole fishing I go really low , down to size 14 shot. Good job my eyesight is good. Most of the time. __________________ Just remember, not all the heroes died. www.helpforheroes.org.uk

Re: Removing micro dust shot. Yep, i Bite them off, realy annoying when you bite through the line , If my thub nail is long enough i try and get the nail into the split in the shot to open it up, but 9 times out of 10 i bite the shot. __________________ Born to fish made to work

Re: Removing micro dust shot. I have a small pair of wire cutters, not the standard "diamond cut", but "flush cutters". These are flat on the back and have the bevel on the upper side only. I use these to remove the shot, I can just nip the shot open with out deforming it too much. It does take a delicate hand or you chop the line!! I don't think there is any easy way. __________________ Life is understood looking backwards, but it must be lived forwards.

Re: Removing micro dust shot. I've resorted to either completeley removing them or "shaving" lead of the smaller shot till the float sits right. just though it was me , looks like every one else is having a similar problem too. __________________ Just remember, not all the heroes died. www.helpforheroes.org.uk

Re: Removing micro dust shot. Either that or perform an "Ivan Marks" and get it close enough then cut the top off the float to get it right. __________________ Just remember, not all the heroes died. www.helpforheroes.org.uk

Re: Removing micro dust shot. I've never used it but isn't there some kind of heavy metal putty that carp boys use to make the hooklink heavier, I seem to remember seeing it spread along a line like small beads. __________________ Life is understood looking backwards, but it must be lived forwards.

Re: Removing micro dust shot. A while ago I bought a great little multi tool from Exeter Angling Centre. It's a split ring plier, crimp and braid cutter all in one. Just tried it on a small lead and it splits it away from the line perfectly. I think it was about 7 quid if memory serves __________________ I am in shape. ROUND is a shape!
