| Re: i have question that needs to be answerd quick!!!! Yep, they are all universal as far as I know. ![]() That's great because if it was the computer industry not only would all the threads be different , you'd wake up one morning to find the thread on the net and handle that worked yesterday will no longer work and that you need to buy the most up to date version of a thread adapter to make the handle and the net join . Then you'd find that your net has slightly different mesh to the one they based the adapter on so you would need another another adapter to fit the not quite normal one that you need because the net no longer fits the handle . THEN in two years the net would just keep falling off and no amount of jiggering with the damn thing will make it work. Some bright spark will then come out with what they claim is a better much cheaper net that is made in india . It will cost you half the price of the British net but then you'll need to keep calling out the engineer to fit the adapter as you signed the license agreement that says you are no longer actually allowed to take the net head off or put it on and you are not allowed to watch while they do it in case you figure it out (not hard) how it all works. At some point you'll realise that the engineer is in fact a guy who used to work for Middy but now works for the indian net company and that you have to call a centre in China in which everyone rather suspicously has English sounding names but not the slightest grasp of the language so you find yourself shouting NET and HANDLE down the phone to the response "It worky? now". Eventually you wil realise that ALL the nets fit NONE of the handles and the things have mesh sizes in metres so they don't actually do what you wanted them to do and in fact specified in the first place but OH NO! you let the bl@@dy accountant sign the requirement instead of someone with at least a two year olds grasp of what a net is , in fact the accountant has only ever SEEN a net not used one or put one together so does not understand ANY of the things the Chinese student is talking about BUT IT IS CHEAPER. Then you find all your gear has been bought out by a German conglomerate who think that the indians are actually competent and that you Brits are all just whinging because you would rather have a net that worked and had a standard thread and fitted all the net handles and could be used to catch fish and lasted more than two days before requiring a major overhaul just to get the damned thing up. Under the threat of the sack for contradicting one of the teutonic masters you will attend endless meetings to discuss the virtues of the now useless net that no longer functions even remotely in the fishy picky up way that you know it did when they were one of two colours and simply the same thread way back in the good old days before netty pasta or whatever the latest version of the adapter is called. So in order to get yourself out of the mess you will approach a major vendor of the indian nets and ask them for their advice (impartial of course) as to which net they would recommend you use. You do this because they offer to do it for free unlike the tackle consultant who wants to charge you for his time (what does he know anyway, he just uses the damn things .... a lot). They of course recommend a batch of nets they have had stuck in the back of their warehouse that came out three years ago, BUT THEY'RE CHEAP. So the conglomerate rates this as an excellent idea and buys the nets from the impartial indian supplier of dodgy old tat. Worst of all you will have stopped fishing to attend all the meetings and just before you blow your own brains out to end the misery you'll hear the accountant say "There, we no longer need the net, no fishes anymore". DO NOT believe the adverts on telly , IT pays the bills and that is it. Sober rant too :) Please note that this is in no way shape or form a rant about any company that I have or do work for and any similarities to a company employing me, trading or bankrupt is entirely co-incidental. Despite the rant I AM grateful to have a job in the current climate. ![]() __________________ Just remember, not all the heroes died. www.helpforheroes.org.uk |
