Mik is on a distinguished road
Re: Split Shot – What are they

Hope you dont mind me adding to this but just thought I would tell you my thoughts on it.

A standard dispenser of shot only contains certain ones that do work out that they half in weight all the way through.

All apart that is from the #1 which they throw in and doest fit in anywhere.

Standard Pack

SSG - 1.6g
AAA - 0.8g = 2xSSG
BB - 0.4g = 2xAAA
#1 - 0.3g ---Thrown in to confuse us
#4 - 0.2g = 2xBB
#6 - 0.1g = 2x#4
#8 - 0.068g = 2x#6 More or less anyway

Hope this shines a bit more light on this.

Re: Split Shot – What are they

Hi All, Just thought i'd add my tuppence worth. Split shot was originally used in shot guns hence the different grades we use now. I was always of the opinion & this is only what I was taught so dont blast me for it but I was taught that 2 x no.4 were the equivalent of 1 no.1 & 2 no.1's were equivalent to 1 bb,2 x bb's were 1 aa,2aa's were 1 swan shot dunno if this true or not but always seemed to work for me when shotting floats.

Rob.
