| Re: Canal Fishing Have a read of this : < A Beginners Guide to Float Fishing on a Canal > it should help you. If you are after fish of between a couple of ounces up to around the 3lb to 4lb mark then I would advise the following tackle Rod: 12 or 13ft Light waggler/match rod. Reel: Small to medium fixed spool reel or closed face reel. Reel Line: 2lb to 3.5lb (Note: Ensure that your reel spool is full to within a couple of mm of the spool rim otherwise it will restrict your casting ability.) Hook length: 1lb to 3lb max. Hooks: Size 20's, 18's or 16's max Of course you can always sit it out and hope for a Carp to take your bait on heavier tackle if thats what you want, but unless it is a stretch known for its Carp I wouldn't hold your breath and I would take something to read. but on the other hand if you want to catch plenty of other quality fish I would use the tackle described above (if you don't have a Pole). so it's up to you. Good luck and tight lines Keith (BoldBear) __________________ My Web Site (The Average Coarse Angler) Happiness is Fish Shaped (It used to be woman shaped but the wifes getting on a bit now) |

| Re: Canal Fishing ive caught a 1lb 14oz perch on double maggot on the exact same setup and carp on maggots so use them i wouldn't really use sweetcorn unless you know there are bigger fish like bream or big roach. |
