Probably "Take you time and think with a clear head"

But I guess that counts for anything in life.

I received advice on this theme from Dick Walker himself. "Take enormous care not to scare your fish. However careful you are, you will scare more fish than you ever know about"

Wink Re: Best piece of advice you have ever recieved about fishing.

Never eat yellow snow & never pee into a hedge with a fence in it ... especially if you know its electrified!
Unfortunately that's some of my own advice on that 2nd point...well point nearly burnt right off to be honest....

Re: Best piece of advice you have ever recieved about fishing.

Thou shalt not forget about that mackerel in your fridge for any longer than a month.

Thou shalt not spill squid juice in the wife's car.

Thou shalt not drive for four hours and discover you've left the stove gas at home.

Thou shalt ensure you are fishing in the right place, before spending 4 hours fish-less.
