Re: Need to upgrade my fishing gear

for that budget, best try ebay or freecycle.
obviously you have the p&p to add on to the final price, unless close enough to pick up, recently on ebay, bivvies have been going for about £25 region + £10 p&p
not sure about the other kit, but i'm sure you can find most of what you want, but i think you'll struggle to keep within budget.
probably best getting hooks from your local tackle shop as you know exactly what you're getting & not unbranded hooks of dubious quality
try making your own rigs, a little practice & it'll be cheaper than ready made rigs.
plenty of high street shoe shops that do cheap wellies.
most sports shops or ebay will do baseball caps.
proper angling sunglasses can be expensive, so maybe start off with a decent pair from tescos or similar for fraction of the price.

another tip is if you're regular with your local tackle shop & chat with them about your needs etc, they may give you discounts when you do a bulk purchase of several larger items ... rod, landing nets & handles etc.

if on a budget, maybe best not trying to get it all in 1 go, spread it out a bit over time (couple of items a month), so you can then up your budget without breaking the bank.

Re: Need to upgrade my fishing gear

Hi,

As you say according to your profile,

"student aka lazy bugga who wonts to fish all day"

might I suggest that you do something about it.

When I was a 16 year old and fishing mad, I had a paper round in the morning, delivered groceries for the Co-Op and an evening paper round when I arrived home from school, all to pay for my fishing.

If you are as keen as you say you are I'm sure that there are pleanty of things that you could do to earn a few pounds to help with your fishing needs.

The youngsters around where I live, cut grass and do gardening work, clean cars etc.

I trust this helps.

Regards

Drew

Re: Need to upgrade my fishing gear

i know what it's like tom,
my girlfreind is at home with our 2yr old daughter on what she gets, & as for me, after being a mechanic since leaving school, i lost my job in feb. as well as the household bills, cars etc, our biggest bill is my tool account ... £250 a month! (i blame the car manufacturers for changing things so mechanics end up having to buy new tools to work on the newer cars) unfortunately, job seekers doesn't even cover that, so am paying what i can, when i can, luckilly i have a good relationship with my tool dealer.
if it wasn't for working on family & friends cars, we would be finding it very hard to cope with all our bills, let alone go fishing & replace kit as & when i need to (usually end tackle) & if i don't have enough money, i don't go fishing.
even resorted to selling stuff on ebay.
we all do what we have to for money (whilst job hunting in my case) & i can see it from both your side & drew's (which i'm sure if he had all the info he wouldn't have sounded so strong), a few years ago, i was finishing my low paid day job & then out till 3am some nights doing private work just get some much needed money.
now with my girlfriend falling pregnant & our wedding later this year, money will be getting tighter (although hoping i'll have a job by then) we'll just have to cope, like many others at the moment.
but good luck with the new course, finances & getting your fishing gear.

Re: Need to upgrade my fishing gear

best check with some of the other guys about keenets & their quality.
sounds cheap & cheerfull, but may not last that long, or have much room.
i've seen some decent bivvies on ebay for under £30 ( up to £45ish with p&p), which may be a better option, although possibly more than you want to spend.
compare the dimensions of the bivvie against others on ebay, you may get a higher end used bivvie for same price!
