| Floats Floats i have been fishing this weekend with no luck and no fish as i was fishing. i fort i would use a weighted float i have never used them before so i must of spent about 20 mins figuring it all out. so after 20 mins i relised to thro a big stop knot on and chuck it in 2 people were all so fishing by me and shows me how to do it all. so the next it was alot easy to just use a weighted 1 as i was setting it up a old man came up to me and said you cheat. cheat? i turn round and went cheat what do you mean. using 1 of those floats only cheats use them not real fishermen. we set up are rods and rigs with everything we have in are box. so i watched him fish and god he is a pro he was fishing about 15 feet away from me he got 11 fish in 6 hrs and i got nothing. i was wondaring what the hell he had on his rod and it was the same as me 3 red maggots on a size 20 i think or an 18 size hook. | Re: Floats was he getting most of his fish on the drop? sometimes its best to just use a waggler if fishing pretty close in as anything like a weighted float or a bubble will make a splash when cast. |

| Re: Floats pr***K eh? some people are just better than us lol i have a couple of fishing mates like than, drives me crazy sometimes. just try and glean as much info as possible from these people, and learn from them. |

| Re: Floats no dident have any ground bait it was on bala lake north wales. all i had was bear essantials the nearsist tackel shop is 1 hr drive so i had to stock up .The man came down with a seat box the size of a of a small car you sit 2 people on it he had alot of strange kit like for a bite alarm he had a bell with a peg on it its works he got 3 pearch and a coupple of other fish he got a barbel my fav but i was told there were no atall so i am not sure what it was only small with wiskers barbel catfish look a like we were fishing in deep water with a joing river next to it. but the problem was you could see the fish the water was that clean you could pear over the bank and see the bottem were the fish were all hiding he had a good fight with the pike tho 10lb on 6lb line would of fort it would of just snaped like that he was going after roach and pearch as you said and no the old man dident have ground bait everything bloody els tho __________________ Catch count 2009 8 Carps 7 Tench 4 Chub 12 Perch 2 Barbel 0 Pike 15 Trout 2 graylings 20 minnow 6 dace 1 eel 15 rudd 20 roach Biggest 8lb carp |

| Re: Floats sometimes it can be something as simple as the wrong line, too heavy or coloured line wich can be visable in clear water, also if the fish were in close and the water that clear then i would have targeted them with just a waggler float and no split shot at all, try and get them to take it on the drop, even just throwing in a dozen maggots at the fish you could see, let them eat those and build their confidence up, then another handfull, cast in and bobs your uncle! fingers up to the old codger lol failing that, just go back same time and if the old boy is there nick his gear then steal his swim lol |

| Re: Floats anno its bit late but i did what you said and thats why i havent repiled out of all the chances i had the time i go to push him in to nick his gear and swim the old bill tuned up to go fishing so he is safe for another day when i ever go down he is there catching bloody fish while i am there twiddling my thumbs.
