| Does fishing line have a life span? Hey Everyone - brand new here. Haven't been fishing for 15 years but have quite an inventory of old equipment. I have spools of Berkley Trilene that have been stored in tackle boxes in a dry basement out of the light. Would the line still be fit for use? Are the newer lines better? I fish mostly pan fish, small mouth and pike. |

| Re: Does fishing line have a life span? It's the lines memory thats the problem I think. After being on the spool in one position for a long time it sort of remembers how it's been so it will be lots of curly line on the waters surface and possibly more tangles. As someone also said it can have more stretch in it than it's supposed to have altering the breaking strain I would imagine. Other than that it's lifespan is about 300 years I think before it decomposes lol. |
