| How on earth do 'drop-off indicators' work? Greetings, I'm a new member & not the most experienced coarse fisherman. I read IYCF & 'Angling Times' but where I reside, North West Durham, 'good carping' is very much at a premium. Nothwithstanding that, I ask the following, "When perusing the magazines I notice that carp fishermen use 'mechanical' bite-indicators & they also use drop-off indicators located to the rear of the bit indicator. What's the point of using both in view of the fact the a bite indicator gives an audible warning when the drop-off indicator obviously does not". Also, relative to drop-off indicators, what is the function of a bobbin? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. WIDJID |

| Re: How on earth do 'drop-off indicators' work? a drop off bite is when a fish picks up the bait and swims towards you,if you fishing with a relatively tight line without a bobbin or drop off indicator to the rear of the bite indicator the bite may not register, if you have a bobbin on the line the weight it will cause the drop off bite to be indicated by the buzzer i hope that helps, by the way, welcome to the forum |
