Worms for fishing - Well just been out in the garden and seen a hedgehog

Which reminds me that it is a great time to collect lobworms from your garden for free

Lobworms are great baits this time of year and all fish will snap them up

So get a torch and once its been dark for an hour or two go out and gentle walk across your lawn ( freshly cut being the best ) and shine your torch on the ground and you will see the lobworms shine in the light

Best after rain or if in a dry spell just water the lawn for a day or two

Out tonight as going fishing tomm.. and using free bait

thanks for the tips, i remember you telling me this when the forum was only just starting up, and have always remembered it.

You also told me that if you mix washing up liquid in with the water, that will also bring the lobworms up.

You can also sing worm songs to them Dan and then you will get locked up no problems lol

you have to run around in circleds on your hands i have found the best way
i dont have a porob with worm collection, we have an allotment and a masive pile of manour (we had to order it by the truck load) which is full of masive lob worms, maybe abit to big

I collect worms from the verges while out walking the dog late at night. A torch isnt necessary as you can see the worms by the street lights and this way you can collect a good number in an hour or so.

A word of warning though...I have lost count of the number of times I have been stopped by the law enquiring what I am doing at 1am walking along the verges doubled up and carrying a bucket!

Also...if you use washing up liquid to collect worms make sure u rinse them in clean water straight away as they will die very quickly if not cleaned off..

I've Also Found That If You Take A 3'-2x2 Stake,cut 1/4" Indentions Along The Entire Length Of The Stake,drive It About 1' In The Ground And The Take A Broom Handle And Rapidly Rake The Broom Handle Across The Indentions;it Causes Vibrations Sending Worms To The Surface.

As kids we used to pour a bucket off strong soapy water on the grass and the worms used to come up in there hundreds,it must have got in there eyes
Trouble was it killed the grass really cheesing my dad off.
