Mustad delux tripod! Stay well clear of them. Mine wobbles around so much that unless you get a real cracker of a bite, you have no idea which rod the bite is on!

Fox sea lead clips, sick to death of them opening up just enough during the cast for the trace to come off on impact.

You may be surprised at some of the new sea rods coming out very soon.....designed by Alan Yates himself...!

Totally disagree (sorry!) - but Ultima F1, 18lb in black is absolutely superb!

Maybe you need to check your leader knots....

Nothing to do with leader knots, its legendary down here for breakages, few others on this site had same problem on clean ground. Gone back to Daiwa tourny & Sufix Tritanium now..

Re: Name & Shame.

I wouldn't use Ultima lines if you paid me. I have had nothing but trouble with their stuff. It just isn't worth losing a decent fish because your line ain't upto the job. I've found the worst was the 15lb red ice that will just snap for no reason and not anywhere near the leader knot!

I use daiwa tournament line now and will stick with that.
