Delkim Ev Plus

Delkim Ev Plus

First of all the offical write up from Delkim

Quote:
OPTIMUM BITE INDICATION using Delkim’s unique tried and tested piezoelectric, digital and microcontroller technology. Simplified operation. Designed, individually made and tested by Delkim in England with no compromise on Delkim Quality and Reliability.

Vibration sensing with no moving parts
Single Dynamic Sensitivity Range
Total adjustability to cover all conditions
Push button power
Twin clear high visibility LEDs
LED colours: Purple, Red, White, Blue, Green & Yellow
Patented NiteLite night marking mode
Large easy to use rotary controls
High volume & wide tone range
Audio & NiteLite outputs
2 year guarantee
The Ev plus price is around £56.00 which is mid range for a bite alarm. What makes this alarm a bit different than the rest is that it works of vibration with no moving parts. This sound a bit strange but I have found it very responsive giving great bleeps on the slightest tug in all conditions.

Once the unit is switched on the two LEDS stay lit ( very dim ) which at first I thought would mean getting through batteries , but this has been not the case. This is a great feature and on a run they light up very bright giving of quiet a lot of light to see your indicator.

The picture below shows the vibration bar and the duel LEDS

The large easy to use rotary controls means that even when your fingers go a bit num in the winter you can still adjust the Ev easily

The unit has sockets so you can add Audio box extension & NiteLite outputs as Delkim do a Illuminated Visual Indicator which sounds fun but a bit over the top IMOA

The only thing that I must say is a bit weak on the unit is the battery cover is a bit naff and I can see tape having to be used after a year or so to keep the lid fixed in place

The good
Great idication
Bright LEDs
Loud Signal

The Bad
Battery lid to weak

My Rating
Quality 3.5 / 5 ( battery lid is the only reason for this )
Price 4/5

Would I recommend It - Yes even with the lid issue as its brill and if you want to be a bit different and not have a Fox alarm then this is for you

Do not think the colour is best just what you like I have three two white and one yellow ( yellow in the middle )

I like white because if its a take then they are light a torch

Re: Delkim Ev Plus

Richard,

Know what you mean about the battery cover. I've been using Delkims for a few years now and swear by them.
After warranty service is good, with a fast turnaround if you need a repair. (Unlike other tackle manufacturers!)

Word of CAUTION, never spray them inside or out with WD40 it damages the circuit board.

If they get really soaked its a good idea to bring them indoors and take off the back cover and remove the battery to ensure they dry out fully

Great review

It might work good to treat them like a wet cel phone: IMMEDIATELY pull the battery and put everything in a container of instant rice for a few days.

Re: Delkim Ev Plus

Wow, got an email regarding this thread have not been on a fishing Forum for years!

Regarding the Delkims, following one night whilst fishing for Zeds on the Relief Channel, I watched my indicator rise and not a beep from the alarm - I was using braid, and had never had this problem before.

After that i did not use Delkims again and went for FoX Microm M2's the ones with adjustable tone and sensitivity. they worked great, but I got fed up with the small batterys and have now for 3 years been using TF Gears alarms with Tone, Volume Sensitivity control and remote - used these in the worst conditions possible - they are a bit more fragile than fox alarms, but I cant fault the reliability.

Barrie
