Re: Lure hardener?

hello mate,i have done a bit of lure making over the years,i have always given them a polyeurethane finish and that does the job.
try spray painting a lure through a gauze mesh it gives a lovely looking finish

Re: Lure hardener?

don't know if they still do it or even if you can get it down under mate but gudebrod was the one i used,
as for how close you hold the lure i can't remember to be honest,i think i played around with different distances to get different finishes

Re: Lure hardener?

I played at making some lures in the past, but never really had time to finish any off..

What I did find however was an American site/forum which has all you need to know about lure making.

Try Tackle Underground. If it ain't on that site, you can't do it to a lure. Some of the guys on there make a living out of creating hand made baits for the Bass fishing circuit, and their lures are works of art.

From nosing through the forum on hard baits, it would appear the consensus is that epoxy is the best stuff to use as a "clear coat" as they call it. There is however a massive difference of opinion on which expoy to use. Lots of people like Devcon 2 ton, which is the stuff I managed to get my hands on. Haven't actually used it yet though!

I have found an Aussie site on my travels as well.

Try www.luresonline.com.au

Haven't really spent much time on here, but it might be more relevant to you.

Let us know how you get on. I'd be really interested to see the lures you make.

Must try and make some more time to finish my lures off...
