Re: Don't ignore you local tackle shop

My local tackle shop is nearly always sold out of the things i'm after! Not a back lead in sight the other day, no pellets the size i want, only barbed hair rigs size 4! You would think they would order in larger amounts of the things that sell well!?

Re: Don't ignore you local tackle shop

Internet buying sucks. Firstly some goon who you have never met nor will ever meet has all your card details. Secondly you cant hold touch or smell your new purchase. thirdly and to me most importantly what do you do when your prized possesion falls to pieces in your hands?

I shop at Quay stores on the Torquay harbour side, a good stock of tackle, great advice, and friendly chatty staff. In this last year ive had four items that failed me in some way. First was a colemans lamp. On attempting to light it nothing happened, on second attempt it went of with an alarming bang, on third go there was no spark from the piezo lighter. i removed that to find it cracked in half. I took it back and was given a new piezo taken from another lamp. Unfortunately that did exactly the same. It appears the jet was faulty causing the explosions which had sufficient shock to crack the piezo. A Brand new lamp was handed over without question. Next i bought an abu reel, a 7 narrow and within a week the paint was falling off, money back instantly, then i had a courtland fixed spool reel and the chrome started to come off the handle, new handle handed over with a smile. Lastly i bought a berkley collapable spinning rod, very light, very thin tip. the end ring came off after one trip. They changed it for a slightly stronger rod, no quibble.

In terms of packing and posting all the above back to an internet store it would have been costly and very time consuming. For a possible saving you are risking a nightmare if things go wrong. I say possible savings because I find quay stores to be reasonably priced and the more you buy the more they become inclined to discount things.

Add to all that the good advice they give, they talk to all the local anglers so are on the button when it comes to who is catching what and where in the area, can internet stores do that? No.
