unfortunately there comes a time when a faithful piece of kit finally packs up and is beyond repair,
my trusted diawa 7ht has served well for about ten years or so but now its officially dead, although given a new lease of life a few years ago by the kind donation of a spare spool after the original split the side out,
the drive has been becoming increaseingly slack till the last session down at brixham after which a strip down and clean found that relentless use has worn the slot that retains the circlip so much that there is now no metal to hold the circlip on the end of the pinion & retain the gear drive.
a new pinion would have to be riveted to the back plate and to be honest the rest of the reel is not worth the effort.
so its goodbye 7ht and rest in pieces, consigned to the scrap reel bucket.

ive just spent the past 4 hours stripping cleaning and reasembleing my old shimano speedmaster to use as a stand by till the right replacement comes along.
hopefully ive now got it running slow enough to use coz b4 i've always found this beast just too fast

Thats a good innings gord you after another 7ht as i was looking at them the other day for 90 quid just cant remember where

all over flea bay, a few crappy ones, new ones @ £90 odd, as new ones not much cheaper .

when were they first made ?
me & dad bought ours shortly after,
when we started messing about tourney casting just to buck the abu trend
no rush to replace, things are gonna be slow till april,
this months specie targets are rockling , dabs, flounder & outside chance of spur?

1st released early 1990's , might be nearer 15-18 years old ,
bet new abu's won't last like that, the old 7000's did when they were made in sweden
