Unhappy Reels?????

Hi, im looking to buy some new reels for carping. I have spent a few quid the last couple of years on reels, I look after my gear very well, but unfortunately the reels I have used just havent stepped up to the mark.

Does anybody recommend any Big pit or equivalent reels, I'm looking for a top end reel for the Long haul, that will last a long time.

I was thinking about the Daiwa Iso 5500, any recommendations?

Any advice or help is much appreciated
Thanks

Re: Reels?????

For the best fishing reel requires a small body and big head (spool). This allows us to increase the casting distance!

Re: Reels?????

I bought a Shakespear Omni for my lad, he uses it for ledgering/swimfeeding for Chub, Barbel and Bream on flowing water, and to be honest, its a cracking little reel for the money and has never let him down during some very good fights.
Don't be put off by the price, they are well made and more than capable of the task.

I have to agree with Nick about the Shimano's. I used them as a pro guide in Spain for 2 years of hard slog and they are still going strong. I used Ultegra 8000. They also doubled up as spodding reels, so you can imagine the stick that they got.

Re: Reels?????

Hey thanks for all the opinions, I must admit Shimano seem to be very reliable from asking around, and it seems the build quality throughout their range is second to none!

Quite liked the look of the Shimano Longcast, Big spool type, with the added performance of a baitrunner!

Daiwa seemed to have put the prices up for a lot of their reels it seems.

The 20% VAT has something to do with it.

Lets hope bait price isnt affected too much
