| New Tackle purchased I don't know if this seems a little weird but recently purchased a Penn powerstik pro Bass rod with a Penn captiva2 reel, the rod is capable of launching a 2-4oz lead.....the rod is nearly as thin as a match stick and doesn't look as if its up to the job.....11.6ft, using it for light beach work for Bass in the surf, so needless to say one is not casting far for this type of work. I don't work for Penn or anything to do with fishing, but this outfit is fantastic, the reel is very basic, but the engineering that has gone into it is astonishing for the price, especially comparing it to two reels purchased recently around the £30 mark! another £6.00 gets you a reel that i think you would agree, would more than likely cost another £50 on top! I will not go out in future on a whim and snap up rods or reels that look the business but do not perform...at all! Lesson learnt pocket burnt! The Rod well...that,s geogeous and I stroke it every day I get Home! ![]() |
