Kyoto Rods

Hi!!

I am new to this forum so forgive me if this is in the wrong place! I was recently given 2 Kyoto fishing rods by an old friend. I am not one for fishing but my husband hopes to take ours sons out! does anyone know anything about these rods?? We know nothing, infact, neither does our friend other than they may be quite old. I have googled them but found nothing!! I hoped that someone on this forum may help!!

Thank you!

Claire

Re: Kyoto Rods

sorry Claire , i have no idea what these rods are .. do you know what length they are and wether they have any other writing on them ? this might help in determining whether they are gonna be fit for purpose.. Also where does your hubby plan on taking the boys ? sea or river fishing ?
Steve

Re: Kyoto Rods

thanks for the reply!
They have no other markings on them at all! They are around 6ft and are in 2 pieces. we live quite close to the Trent so that is probably where he would take them. Sorry, that is all I can tell you! Think the best option may be to buy a new rod and put the Kyoto ones away!!

At 6 foot they are more than likely going to be a boat rod

Re: Kyoto Rods

not necessarily Nick. i have a funny funny feeling that these rods are more like the kids rods you buy on holiday as the majority of 6ft boat rods are either one peice or have a 1ft or so butt plus top section ..
Claire,.. do the rods have big chunky tops or are they really thin rods and springy ?

Re: Kyoto Rods

Steve, they are thin and springy. Someone suggested that they were bamboo, they are wooden but I would say not bamboo.

Re: Kyoto Rods

found this as well

Kyoto Rods Bamboo Fly Rod - very nice 4 piece bamboo boat rod made in Japan. It can be assembled as a 2 piece rod that is 6' in length or as a 3 piece rod that is 9' in length. One of the wrappings is coming undone but otherwise the rod is in EXCELLENT condition.
