Filleting knives? Does anyone have a decent one they can recommend? I've had a few but they have all been pretty rubbish, sharpened them plenty of times but they are still rubbish when it comes to filleting anything but a mackerel Seen plenty on eBay but have no idea what to look for when buying one! __________________

Re: Filleting knives? Trago have some fairly decent ones in. The best filleting knife I ever had was from a French manufacturer who's name escapes me right now. They are quite common though and they are the type that fold into a wooden handle. Even used mine for paunching rabbits back on the farm.

Re: Filleting knives? Hi Steve I love my Normark "Presentation Soft Grip 7.5" Fillet Knife - at least that is what it looks like - I bought it 20 years ago so it's probably not the exact model. Best advice I can give is buy two. One cheapo for slicing the mackies on the beach and a shiny cooks variety that stays at home in the kitchen drawer. I personaly don't like folding blades as it's too easy to make a mistake with cold fingers and a tired brain - though I am sure others will disagree. Pingu could give good advice on a chefs knife. Hope you catch some fish worthy of an excelent blade. ![]() P __________________ Spahill <:--- --- --- --- It was this big --- --- --- ---:>
